Sun and Moon killed so much of my interest in Pokemon that I'm not even excited for the Switch game anymore. And Masuda telling us to lower our expectations doesn't help either.

Pokémon is about to become really boring mechanic wise. It's running out of unique type combiations and introducing new types each gen won't work out. We also have Super Versions of Formes and Attacks now, next gen will probably have Super Abilities. The classic mechanics of Pokémon are exhausted, we even have Evolving Legendaries and Pokémon from inbetween the universes now. The only way to keep going is to introduce something completely new and different each gen or make alternate versions of old stuff. This process has already started with Gen 6 and even further with Gen 7. Pokémon will continue indefinitely cause it just works to well and has to much presence in multiple media and hyped the world twice. But just like anything going on forever its straying away from what it originaly was. It will even outlive its creator.

I just finished replaying Sun yesterday, and desu I still think it's one of the better games in the series. The region is kind of boring, but that goes for Kanto, Johto, and Orre as well, so it isn't a deal breaker for me.
