>>33946275>This isn't entirely true, all of those things play a part, Trying to boil Pokemon's success down to one factor is fallacious, all of those things play a part; the story, the characters, and the Pokemon themselvesYeah, you're right, the story and the characters do play a part on the appeal of pokemon but you cannot deny that the most important part about pokemon is the pokemon themselves, just look at old trailers, they always have the pokemon as the main focus, look at the main series box art, they only have the legendary pokemon, not any human characters, look at the spin offs, Pokken only has pokemon as playable characters and the human characters are in the background, look at mystery dungeon, all of the characters are pokemon and there's always one human that is in a pokemon's body, pokemon rangers is all about the pokemon and how they help you, pokemon go only has the pokemon profesor as a character, and he is never to be seen again after you make your character
>There are plenty of popular human characters in this series, such as Red/Ash, Lillie, N, etc.A lot of those are either forced or nostalgia pandering though, Lillie is literally waifu pandering
