But what are your main complaints?

I hated the unskippable cutscenes

I disliked it being too easy

I hated the lack of gyms

I hated that the elite fours were not really that threatening, I fought the 4 of them on the first try, I miss platinum's threat, that was fucking hard.

Jokes aside, my biggest complaint are the huge amout of cutscenes, which add nothing to the game itself, you just waste like 5 seconds just for Hau to turn back and wave his hand. Jesus. The rest of the problems i have are mostly subjective: I hate the dex, the characters, the story etc.

I fucking love that you can check IVs and EVs in game now, it's a really good change and the whole breeding process is getting better and better

I really liked the dex size, and I'm a bit displeased that usum have a larger dex, but it's not a big deal

I also did like the story. I'm not bothered by doing things other than combat in an rpg, and for any other rpg other than gen 1 and 2 pokemon, dialogue and cutscenes are pretty standard

Pretty much this. I feel like a lot of people who complain about the cutscenes and whatever haven't really touched many JRPGs outside of Pokémon. SM feels like a PS2 era JRPG, which is pretty neat.

It's an easy thing to complain about, because it's different from the rest of the games. I think that's a good thing for a Pokemon game, though. Sun and Moon are way more memorable than the last two gens were to me because of it.

The story was cool and relatively innovative, at least better than the story of the previous games. Alola region seems pretty comfy. Despite not having many new mons, the new ones are pretty interesting, a lot of them have a good design and are very useful, UBs are very cool and I hope to see more in the future. One of the best games so far, can't wait for USUM.

Mechanically one of my favorite games in the series
Removal of HMs, inclusion of little things like checking stats as you capture things and the immediate ability to switch them into your party, and the IV/EV checker.
If it weren't for the oppressive, boring, and neverending handholding and cutscenes it would be in my top 3 favorite pokemon games.

Outside of an inability to skip cutscenes on repeated playthroughs and all those tiny, two to three line moments that get turned into cutscenes for no real good reason, it was overall a great game

Mind, I genuinely believe almost every Pokemon game is better than the one previous

I had a really enjoyable time filling the Alola Dex.

It felt great to get 100% dex completion in the game, and not feel annoyed about needing 10 games and 30 event exclusive mons to fill a huge National Dex.

Seriously, yes you can't replay the game due to cutscenes and its pretty linear/unfinished in some parts, but these were fun solid additions to pokemon and /vp/ is just filled with contrarians

Totem Pokemon are the best idea GameFreak's singleplayer campaigns have had in multiple generations. They're far better bosses than just fighting people with other teams. And the important NPC's you do end up battling tend to have well thought out (admittedly small) teams with strategies and personality, instead of just filling in slots.
