Glaceon/Crabominable should evolve via an Ice Stone
Leafeon should evolve via a Leaf Stone
Friendship evolutions should be removed and replaced by other means (e.g. Umbreon requires a Moon stone, Espeon requires a Sun Stone, pretty much everything else can be a normal level-based evolution)
Trade evolutions should also be removed. Ones that require hold items can be turned into level-up whilst holding the item (like Weavile or Gliscor) while the others can be level-based or move-based.

Of course Game Freak will never change any of these and a significant number of Pokemon will always be awkward to obtain.

Though Gen 5 didn't have a way to raise Beauty, and Gen 6 didn't until ORAS, Contest Stats remained in the game's data so a Feebas with Max Beauty from Gen 3-4 could still evolve via Leveling with Max Beauty in Gen 5 and XY.

It wasn't retconned, but they were forced to add a new method to make up for the inability to change Contest Stats.

Also, nice job casually mentioning the retcon clusterfuck of new typings while defending Game Freak's selective refusal to retcon other shit. Eevee suddenly reacting to a Leaf Stone three gens later makes as much sense as Clefairy suddenly becoming weak to Poison and immune to Dragon you cockmongler.
