>>33968178Pokemania was suffering. Why? Because it was a short-lived fad, and a lot of us didn't want to give it up.
Imagine if you will, that you find this really really cool video game, story, anime, whatever. And as a child, you are obsessed with the magic of it. All your friends like it too, and everyone at school can connect over it. Everyone bonds because of this thing and you have something wonderful to share. You are accepted and can enjoy it all together.
But then, one day, seemingly out of no where? Everyone except you and maybe a handful of others stop liking it.
>Pokemon is for babies haha, what a fucking nerd. They all for whatever reason, grew out of it. Maybe they never really liked it to start with and just followed the fad, maybe the just found something else to like, maybe an older sibling or adult in their life influenced them. The bottom line though? You are a minority now, you are a social pariah and are mocked for enjoying something after it's no longer cool.
For awhile, Pokemon was so fucking stigmatized in schools that bringing a gameboy or wearing merch meant physical violence. You painted an easy target on your back, and in the hay day of bullying? That was suicide.
Now however Pokemon is more socially accepted than ever since Pokemania died. I'm the happiest now to be a Pokemon fan than I have been since Gen 2 ended. I only have one friend who also appreciates Pokemon, but I can live with that I suppose. I really wish I had someone to chat, trade, and battle with though.
