Why Blastoise isn't popular anymore?

it was as popular as Charizard in Gen1 but even GF doesn't acknowledge that anymore.

Venusaur has the manga and Charizard has Origins. Blastoise has nothing.

Venusaur has its own set of clothes and Charizard is a pokeride in Alola. Blastoise has nothing.

Blastoise is popular. Just not as a protagonist starter. The manga was made back in a time when there was no clear cut popular. The author just rotates based on starter order. And Origins was made in a time when Charizard is the clear cut fave, with Blastoise a moderate second, and largely considered Blue's ace. That's more than can be said of Venusaur who was only relevant off a technicality.
