We have:

>10 Flying type legendary pokémon
>5 Electric type legendary pokémon
>5 Fire type legendary pokémon
>5 Fairy type legendary pokémon
>5 Steel type legendary pokémon
>4 Water type legendary pokémon
>3 Fighting type legendary pokémon
>3 Ground type legendary pokémon
>3 Ice type legendary pokémon
>2 Normal Type legendary pokémon
>2 Ghost type legendary pokémon
>2 Rock type legendary pokémon
>2 Grass type legendary pokémon
>1 Dark type legendary pokémon
>0 poison type legendary pokémon

I didn't count mythical pokémon or UBs obviously.
Considering that, what do you think it will be a good typing for a gen 8 legendary?

Japanese have a huge fucking boner for pro-environment, anti-technological-progress stories. So if there ever is a poison legendary, it's gonna be that, with a good chance of being either man-made or enabled through human actions. It would be thematically similar to yveltal; ending all life it crosses and so on, except through pollution.

Mythicals aren't Legendaries. They are given a distinct name for a reason.

UBs aren't legendary until they have an impact on any sort of plot (games or anime). You can't just name a legendary just because of its rarity, late-game availability, inability to breed, stats, abilities, and general mysterious lore.

OK, so Nihilego still counts because it's more important to a mainline game's plot than any of the 5 original Legendaries/Mythical as well as Raikou, Entei, Ho-Oh, Lugia, all 4 Regis, the Musketeers, the Lando trio, Heatran, Zygarde, just about every Mythical, and arguably Xerneas/Yveltal.

how are we still debating on whether some legendaries aren't legendaries?

what is even the definition of legendary for you guys anymore if you arbitrarily pick and choose which ones are and which ones aren't?

Like, what's the logic for excluding UBs but including the Tapus?

Why start nitpicking now, but keep things like an artificial clone in the category then?

You can do that.
Not to say that UB are legendary pokemon, but as far as meeting a classification goes, they check every single box except the arbitrary one. Names are just names. Terms are only as good as they are useful. I don't even believe the term "Generation" is an official classification for Pokemon games, but we have it and use it because it's useful for categorizing sets of games that are able to intercommunicate.
