>>33972687I don't hate Typhlosion per se, but I find that it's a fairly lazily-designed Pokemon. While all three Johto starters have the same base stat values as Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, Typhlosion is the only one that is an outright copy+paste job. On top of that, Typhlosion has never even been as good as Charizard: Charizard may have a x4 Rock weakness, but it has some additional resistances and a Ground immunity, too. Charizard has also gotten interesting move options throughout the years, like Dragon Dance, Belly Drum, and Focus Punch. It also got two Mega Evolutions that not only make it worth running, but have different playstyles and encourage different team builds.
Typhlosion simply doesn't have anything going for it; it's a mono-Fire-type with the most noteworthy things it learns being Thunder Punch and Eruption. Thunder Punch isn't even that good anymore because it's a physical move now, and while Eruption is nice, but it's not enough - especially not when it's going to eat ALL the hazards.
