The only reason why PMD gets so much praise is because it's comparatively better than the main series games, which is the same as comparing shit with less smelly shit. Absolutely none of the characters have any sort of personality whatsoever outside of the partner, who 2 times out of 3 (RT's wasn't a character) was totally unlikable. The pacing is total ass for almost all of them, with mood whiplash happening all over the place just to shove out certain plot points or padding, and although it's discussed a lot, the flsahback spam also kills off a lot of the pacing or importance of certain situations, especially when most of them are of scenes that happened a few minutes ago.
Danganronpa only gets so much praise because of the waifus and meme value.
Korekiyo's murder case is absolutely horrid from a writing standpoint, but only slides by due to memes. Like PMD, the characterization for many characters is very stock. Saihara, Momota and Harukawa as a trio are better than PMD's main characters, but at the end of the day Saihara's the typical beta that mans up, Momota's the shonen loud protagonist, and Harukawa's the quiet and scary, but "cute" girl. Thankfully it doesn't apply to the entire cast, and unlike PMD it has a mode that lets you interact with the other characters.
