Steel is the best defensive typing and ice is the worst defensive typing. But what are the best and worst offensive typings?

Best is probs ghost or fighting, worst is bug. Even steel, poison, and grass are better than the shitty bug.

Fairy is not a good offensive typing

It's only used for STAB and by Psychic types that can't learn Focus Blast

Worst is probably Bug.
Best, i'm not sure. Probably depends on the meta, i guess.
Ice is a strong candidate. Dragon before the Fairies. Fairy itself is pretty good. Ground and Fighting also have lot of super effective coverage.

Dragon aside since were only talking about types and not meta, it takes out very potent offensive mons. Id say it’s good on both ends

Forced out by u-turn, weak to sucker punch, and the key target of pursuit trapping.
The thing is, psychic has a LOT of good Pokemon using the typing, and most of those Pokemon use the typing offensively or use its resistances as a core component for their secondary typing.

Worst offensive typing would technically be Normal since it's SE against nothing, resisted by two types, and is immune by one. But on the other hand, it's neutral against everything else. I want to say Bug might also be the worst since it's resisted by seven types, but some of its members are very powerful (Volcarona, Scizor, Heracross) and have just the right moves to take advantage of this (like Bug Buzz or Megahorn).

So best offense = Ice, worst offense = Normal or Bug.

I put Thousand Arrows above Freeze Dry because the only Pokemon that can 4x resist Thousand Arrows are

Steel's actually not too bad now that it hits fairy for SE. Most steel types just aren't very offense-oriented and most Pokemon with steel coverage have better options.

that's one of the stupidest thing I've ever read. If anything Fairy type made Steel and Poison decent offensive types

The only thing preventing Fairy from facerolling everything is Steel's resistance to it. While it's a busted type, I hesitate to call it the best offensively.

Bug I'd say is the absolute worst offensively. Fairy, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Poison, and Steel resist it. It's strong against Dark, but so are Fairy and Fighting. It's strong against Grass, but so are Flying, Fire and Ice, the latter two easily-abused. It's strong against Psychic, but Dark exists and lolpsychic.
