I was thinking the same during the whole trailer. They're trying so hard to actually hide Necrozma's ultimate form but it's so obvious.

It almost makes me think it will be an actual evolution. The confirmed regional Pokedex numbers goes against that idea (Necrozma at #400 and Marshadow at #402), unless maybe Magearna got pushed behind Marshadow?

I'd be kind of disappointed if there isn't a final form. Base Necrozma doesn't sell well for a box legendary (not to mention it always looks like it's in pain holy shit), and some players might feel bad about keeping Nebby shackled to it all the time considering its role in the story.

I'm holding out that this isn't just another Kyurem situation. Considering how badly Zygarde got shafted in its own generation I'm hoping they decided to up their game.

Zygarde was the only one not shown with the Ultra Space battlefield. 50% was shown being encountered in a cave and Complete Form was shown being encountered in Poni Meadow (right outside Resolution Cave) with what seems to be a special battle intro.

I dont think that light being is a new perfect Necrozma form. Woulndt that kinda take away the spotlight from the actual main legends? And what reason would there be to use them at all if the same pokemon exists in a much stronger form?

A while ago there was some leak that caimed that another pokemon is trapped inside Necrozma. I prefer to believe this. Would also explain the pain when Necrozma absorbs light.

I think we're on the right track about Guzzlord and Zygarde, they do look too much alike to ignore (not to mention they're found in the same cave of their respective regions)

But I don't think Necrozma's final form/evolution is related to them.

Necrozma is just thematically the easiest route for giving guzzlord a new forme. plus the game is still necrozma's game

That's silly
Solgaleo and Lunala I can understand, since Necrozma shares their movepool and partial typing, but Guzzlord is both too far out of the way and doesn't make much sense.

Why would the hunger eat a light-hungry prism? I mean I guess there's the destroyer aspect but Necrozma's motives are too ambiguous to connect them

I think Guzzlord thematically draws from Black Holes a bit. Kind of fits with Necrozma's own light theme.

But the 2 Necrozma forms don't really have an identity of their own, and lorewise involve making Nebby suffer. IMO, that points to the box legends being disposable and the thing in the background being the true box mascot.

I admit, I didn't consider that. Still I feel overextending Necrozma's importance to postgame isn't their mo. But on the bright side we could see a Zygarde-themed sidequest if >>33985355 is anything to go by. If Guzzlord had more forms it would probably reflect Zygarde

Of course the light being really could be another Necrozma form. I just think it would feel a bit strange. But if Necrozmas whole concept turns out to be absorbtion of not just light itself but pokemon that have a connection to light (not just solgaleo and lunala)... than it could be that the light being is Necrozma after absorbing Arceus.

What if Guzzlord eats a Zygarde and is infected/transformed by all those little planarian worms that make up Zygarde? Honestly I think it would just be awesome if a Guzzlord just bit the head off of a complete Zygarde and the entire thing just crumbled into a teeming mass of worms.
