Hoenn has, imo, two big flaws:
>lots of HM usage
>shitty sea route distribution
HM usage can just be adjusted with ride Pokemon or some shit and sea route distribution can be adjusted pretty easily be picking and choosing random seafaring creatures from various games and plopping them into those routes.

Hoenn prior to the 6tg badge is amazing but swimming that much is like a being in a cave without a bike and everyone uses the same Pokemon type

The one minor flaw I have with Hoenn is that I always thought the desert could use a bit more content in it. Idk perhaps quicksand that drops you into an underground cave system or something.
And I don't consider the mirage tower to be good. It's just a shorter and worse copy of sky pillar.
