AAAAND update on Red Version Nuzlocke:

Caught an Ekans and evolved it into an Arbok
Caught a Voltorb and it survived long enough to evolve into Electrode (had to give it Thunderbolt as it learns 0 electric moves naturally)
Gave Hypno psychic early and swept the Fighting Dojo and Erika with it, nabbing me a Hitmonlee
Evolved Gloom
Cleared Lavender Tower

Not a whole lot else has happened but no losses in a while, fucked up most of my catches too so I'm lucky

Electrode is perfect in RB and FRLF. Try to keep until the end, because of how useful it is in the Elite 4. Also, give it Thunder too. It's lifesaving.

Have there been nuzlocke races? Who can become champion first in a given game, following nuzlocke rules?

Obviously you would need people to actually stream to prove their time and run is legit, but even without that it could be fun and introduce a new level of challenge and stress, limiting the grind.

Now I'm right in front of Mt. Moon. The only Pokemon Center I used was the one in Pewter, but I used up my extra heal that I got from the fight with Brock there as well.

THE PARTY
George (Bulbasaur) - Leech Seed is a pretty good alternative to traditional healing when it's unavailable. Hopefully he'll get the precious Sleep Powder soon.
Lancer (Spearow) - Pretty useful at this point but will quickly become less and less useful.
Shinji (Magikarp) - I wasted some of my money, but I want my cool Chinese dragon. I missed out on my chance to get myself a Nido, so he's the closest thing I have to one of them.

It's been awhile nuzgen! Last time I updated was Gold. 3 games and 56 deaths later here we are. For Sapphire I'm trying to incorporate contests. I have to have a certain amount of ribbons before a gym fight and can't change out the moves I used for contests. I don't remember anything about contests so wish me luck!

I cleared Firered and beat E4+Champion with 0 deaths, for the first time in my Nuzlockes, ever
I used a Vileplume, Jolteon, Aerodactyl, Snorlax, Jynx, and Golduck
Guess it helps when the league consists of two Onix, a Golbat, Haunter, and a Venusaur with Solarbeam

I'm toying around with an idea: I breed about 30 random shinies and do a nuzlocke run where at the beginning of each route instead of catching a new pokemon, I am allowed to withdraw one more of these shinies. I'm hoping this will enhance my reaction to deaths because I will have lost all the hours I spent breeding them.

Then I'll stream drunk or high, in the hope that it will both encourage more misplays and thus deaths, as well as increase my emotional reaction to them. Does this sound entertaining?

I think the general rule with calling for help is that you can only capture the original mon you encounter and must ignore any assistance it gets. I wouldn't know anything about using berry piles to get Crabrawler, I think it's okay though

I enjoyed my silver nuzlocke but I promptly gave up after the e4 since I lost 4 of my 6 main mons. I'd say platinum has the most pokemon variety and is a great game to play if you haven't. It's definitely harder than most pokemon games though, so some grinding is required if you want to keep your mons.

Another update:
Hitmonlee had to get boxed for a surfer
Caught a Krabby and Rhyhorn
Beat down both Snorlax
Realized Krabby has such awful special after I gave it Ice Beam, Surf, and Bubblebeam
Can't even make use of Rhyhorn since it learns ZERO Ground or Rock moves by leveling and I already used the Rock Slide TM (Could still get it Earthquake but having only 1 stab move seems lame)
In Fuchsia right now, about to take Hypno to Koga's gym and clean house.

If you need to replace Krabby, after you beat Koga, you can guarantee a Golduck by surfing in the pond in fishing guy's backyard in Fuchsia. Most reliable Water type in the game behind Blastoise. Also Tentacruel is pretty great and you can find them anywhere

This is a little embarrassing but when going through Silph Co to open up Saffron gym, my rival just completely rekt me. Pidgeot got a crit Wing Attack on my Vileplume before I could sleep powder and it just went downhill from there.
Thinking of trying again but choosing a different Starter and seeing what I can do this time around.
Used/lost my Charmander in this run so first reply picks my next starter

Mankey, Spearow, Diglett, and Oddish are all great choices. Although, with a Psychic type Gym coming up you can add a Magikarp or Raticate to the team instead. You can also snag a Lapras from Silph Co. if you don't prefer a Hitmonlee

I consider berry piles part of their routes, and calling for help is a single battle in my view, as long as it just happens naturally. Like when I went fishing and pulled up a Magikarp it called a Gyarados after the first turn.

Just beat the Grass trail in Sun, lost Magnemite and Gastly in the battle. Gastly isn't a big loss, Magnemite hurt. Need to replace them though, haven't done my Lush Jungle catch yet, and can't catch anything in Diglett Tunnel (have Diglett and Zubat already). Have stuff in the box, but not sure what I want.

yeah i'm kinda seeing that. using it on everything i dont have type advantage just to tackle them to death. i'm feeling it getting weaker and weaker tho. soon it will be unusable i'd bet. hoping the bug and the weird japanese fish thing ive got can take its place

It's basically a fact that Rattata and Raticate have a heightened critical hit ratio, even ignoring how nasty of a move Hyper Fang is at that point
Also grats on the Kadabra, you can take on virtually anything for a while now
I myself am unsure on whether I should use Gastly or just box it until I can evolve it
