if your 3ds is firmware 11.4 or older you can hack it easily, use the internet to find already made guides for you. If it isn't, you can use this tutroial to get Luma3ds. you'll be spending money, but it is worth it for USUM and much more, i promise.

For new3DS just make sure you have a way to edit micro SD cards without the 3DS's built in remote transfer. I don't know if this has changed but there's a part where your 3DS won't turn on until you put another file on it, and the guide didn't really make this clear. Apart from that I had no worries hacking mine.

If OP is still there, ignore rest of thread and just follow this guide. I had no previous experience with custom firmware and this guide made it piss easy. I'd definitely get a bigger SD card though. It'll be well worth the money.

It was back in the A9LH days, but still. A popular colombian youtuber posted a video guide on how to hack your 3DS but left his OTP in the zip linked on his video. Unlike the guide, which told you literally right away "don't fucking flash other people's OTP or you'll brick" he never even mentioned anything about it and a shitshow happened, with thousands of 3DS getting bricked in the process.

I recently ordered a new 2ds xl pokeball edition and I was thinking of homebrewing it. I'm not sure what version its on though but I imagine its on the latest one.

32gb is enough unless you plan on having lots of games you play regularly. It's not hard to re-install games so you can just delete single player games you're done with.

3DS doesn't need a flashcart, once you hack it everything is done on the system
