Necrozma was the original Cosmog from Alolan legend. Centuries of being lost in Ultra Space mutated it - making it cold, hungry and animalistic. Its crystalline body is actually a cocoon, and needs to absorb light to reach its full potential.

It can take on Solgaleo and Lunala's forms as a temporary measure, only so much as to claim a possible evolution that it never achieved.

Am I the only one who thinks the 'light form' is some kind of non-catchable entity? You can see in pic attached that fragments of its eyes are surrounding the wormhole. It doesn't seem to have a fixed shape.

Lusamine's final form in SM could have been a tease for a boss that you fight but cannot catch (but they didn't go all the way), maybe Necrozma's ultimate form could be our first non catchable boss.

I hope not. Base Necrozma makes a poor box legendary on its own (not to mention it's always clutching itself in pain, etc.) and considering Nebby/Cosmog's importance to SM's story it would be kind of shitty if we were encouraged to have Necrozma tethered to it at all times.

A final form would be preferable; one that isn't dependent on the celestial duo to maintain.

You know the dude who was namefagging with USUM and revealing shit that was coming up recently? He sadi apparently Necrozma can fuse with not just Sol and Luna, but with starters, UB's (Necrozma-Guzzlord) and with ITSELF (he said there's 2 available in-game, when they both fuse, it creates the form teased in the middle there. I've no screenshot or hard evidence (i was linked to an archive page if the thread he said it in) but given we got 2 Solgaleo or Lunala in S/M, getting 2 Necrozma wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility at this stage.

Doubtful. Necrozma has no discernible connection to Guzzlord or the other Ultra Beasts. Solgaleo and Lunala make sense because shares a number of distinct characteristics with the duo; light motif (Solgaleo emits, Lunala reflects, Necrozma refracts), shared typing/movepool and battle theme.

Besides, box legendary stories scarcely overarch into the post-game. I'm all for giving Necrozma special treatment, but having it fuse with every UB is kind of silly.

I don't think Gamefreak would go to all that trouble.

Maybe not ALL for the Ultra Beasts, but having two Necrozma fuse together to form that thing in the middle would be pretty damn awesome if you ask me. I can totally see Game Freak doing this as an incentive to buy more than one Gen 7 game!

White is the mix of all colors, if Necrozma manages to absorb all light and colors I suppose it may shine on its own. Could be also a mon or form rappresenting a supernova or a dying star or galaxy distructor. The whole space theme in Gen 7 is much more expanded than Gen 4 (of course each gen had several themes). Might be even Arceus holding all plates or whatever.

Plus Necrozma new signature mive is Photon Geyser or whatever, it's light involved and more neutral compared to Prismatic Laser than links better with his black prism form.

You know the light ray hitting a prism and splitting into rainbow colors, something like that. I suppose its form depends on Z Crystals like Arceus depends on Plates, a Z form that absorbs all those colored Z Crystals and blends them.

On a top of them Necrozma's official art shows its body surface is very smooth and reflective, totally absorbs and/or reflects light. The shape of that thing is a 4 pointed star and a typical shining resort sparkle thing used to underline the lught and shining qualities. It has a lower body too, I guess also pointy and shining, I wonder if this Pokemon, form or temporary form will be like a giant shining model like Xurkitree's head.
Its eyes definitely are similar to Necrozma's colored shards/crystals. Wonder if Minior are what Phione and Carbink are for Manaphy and Diancie, unless Minior is already related to Necrozma somehow.

Guys I just had an idea. Remember that trailer where Necrozma falls senseless on the floor? Imagine that happens after absorbing Leo/luna.
It is now severely weakened and need a strong source of light to survive.
At This point, eternal Floette pops up and boost him with her light so that he can evolve and defeat the true enemy of the game: complete form Guzzlord. (AZ is dead in the universe where Lysandre won so it makes sense tha e-floette follow Lysandre through the portals to get revenge and it works as an excuse to make a distribution of the little fucker)

Could be a number of reasons including gf just leaving it out of the story. For all we know, Alola is just a nursery for them. Like how fish that live out at sea dump there eggs in estuaries and leave. It’s safer there with plenty of food, so that’s where they’d leave the baby.

At this point, only something as random as that would surprise me.

All GF is doing in the past few years is play safe. Going back to the original dragon when everyone is just expecting hints for a gen 4 remake or just the usual gen 1 pandering would be awesome.

Necrozma is the result of a dying Cosmog. Like a dying star, it's energy gets compressed, but in this case it happens slowly, causing it headaches, as it is slowly crushed. Once it collects a sufficient amount of light (energy),it will collapse on itself, releasing it and become a Supernova
