Well, any pokemon following the commands of an evil trainer can be evil. It's clear they can choose not to follow a trainer's orders (like if your pokemon is above level 30 but you don't got enough badges and shit). By receiving an order and following through with it, you are complying with evil. Same reason why Peter Von Hagenbach (knight who was ordered to betray his king by the Duke of Burgundy) is evil. He was ordered to be a traitor and instead of going "Fuck you, I aint doing that shit" he went along with it.

Some pokemon can be evil without outside guidance form trainers, though, like that one Malamar.

I wouldn't say megas are evil too. Think of going Super Saiyan, originally it used to be a form that's hard to control due to the sheer amount of power that's being unleashed.

literally the only reason you can recruit him is because he got memory wiped by Palkia, which is poetic irony considering he set up pretty much the whole game into motion.

he's probably one of the most evil villains in the series, he didn't really have any sob backstory excuse, he did it because he wanted to change the planet into a world of darkness and the fucker had backup plans of backup plans

Well not all of them are bad, M-Slow, M-Pinsir, M-Glalie and M-Absol for example, it varies a lot especially when you compare to M-Luke and and M-Gya, also a lot of the other Megas like Audino, the eon dragons, Altaria, Diancie are unrealesed so any conclusions about them are too hasty.

That city in Platinum only has a story about a girl who was killed off by Darkrai, but BW2 has a haunted house with the ghost of a girl that talks about having nightmares leading up to her death or something.
