There is one timeline with Megas and one timeline without. And a bunch of timelines where the villains accomplished their goals. Not hard to understand.

The worst part is, since anything can happen now, nothing feels like it has true impact anymore. I liked that before the 3ds era of Pokémon the games kinde feelt like they are built on each other and play.in the same world, the only multiverse part being the version differences and the concept of trading, but other than that it is identical.

Um, the concept is easy to grasp, yes, but having to constantly figure out what's relevant to which is a pain. Are Archie and Maxie Fallers, since they use the RSE model, or? Shit like that == headache.

I think as they started introducing more bizarre features and mechanics that contradict past games, a pseudo-reboot (alternate timeline) was necessary. Sooner or later the remakes were going to contradict or retcon whatever's been originally established.

The problem is the developers never reveal it completely and only offer a few hints so you can never truly know whats really going on. They could atleast explain in interviews what exactly they had in mind when creating a certain game

I agree with you OP. Pokemon was better in simpler times, one world, multiple regions. Just like earth where you can visit a different country and encounter different animals and customs.

Multiverses are cool now, thanks to Rick and Morty, so why wouldn't pokemon jump on the bandwagon?

I'm hoping for a reboot after this gen that starts on the switch and returns us to the feel of gens 1-3. Gen 4 with the manipulating time/space bullshit is where things really started to go downhill.

I just want to live a comfy life and collect pokeymans. My biggest concern should be my strategy to defeat the elite 4, not what's going on in which fucking wormhole.

I kinda agree, nowadays we ahave very bizarre things like a 3000 year old guy who built a weapon that can grant immortality. But then again Gen 1 had Mewtwo with its cool unstoppable psychic powers. It was always there but nowadays its a bit too much.
