Because you can only use 1 mega per battle. If your starter was a mega normies wouldn't be incentivized to try out all the other megas

I didn't have that issue, til now. Thanks OP.
My main issue is stuff like the dropping of deerling/sawsbuck other forms and GF shoe horning obnoxious evolution methods when they retcon something simpler.

Why does GF not treat Ice well in the areas that it's SUPPOSED to be treated right? Why do they keep making slow, "defensive" Ice types? This also kinda applies to Rock types, too.

And the whole "late-game Ice type" thing is just real dumb. It's even more baffling when you realize that Ice has gym leader/important figure in every gen except gen 7. Even in gen 3, when, including Regice, there were only 6 new Ice types, which resulted in an Elite 4 member with 2 Sealeo and 2 Glalie. Why????
