>>34036939Gen V may have had an all-new dex, but you're kidding yourself if you think it wasn't just as dependent (if not moreso) on the series' foundation. It played into all of the main tropes of the Pokemon series, and I mean half of the damn designs were reimaginings of Kanto Pokemon.
I loved the idea of a brand new dex, but hated the execution. Why finally remove the Zubats and Geodudes from the caves...and then replace them with a new bat and rock monster? It was terribly uncreative.
