There's nothing to defend. They're all pink, round, bipedal and were pure Normal types when they were first introduced. They're very clearly lazy designs. Still love Wigglytuff though.

Can't help but feel Wigglytuff should've been the pure Normal one and Blissey Normal/Fairy. Definitely keep Chansey pure Normal, though.

I agree that the 'puff-line should've stayed Normal, but I think the whole Chansey line could've become Normal/Fairy, as they're so connected to healing the type would've fit the like better.

Clefairy line is based on fairies, Jigglypuff line is based on balloons, and Chansey line is based on eggs. :)

Jigglypuff evolves from a Moon Stone just like Clefairy. Chansey shares less similarities with the other two which is why it stayed Normal.

They're based on moon rabbits, though, which is why they got the Fairy addition (same reasoning for Azumarill). They kept Normal because they use sound to attack, unlike Clefairy.

Clefairy family is a star shaped alien fairy from the moon, with Gengar being the shadow of Clefable.

Jigglypuff is a balloon with a pink pudding swirl for it's hair. Wigglytuff is a more rabbit form of that idea.

The Chansey line is like those ancient thicc lady figures, but with eggs, and they're very motherly.
