For one thing, they split the content between 2 versions, rather than combining them into one complete version - like every other third game. The last time they split it into 2 games at least we got an expanded region, new characters, an entirely new story, and a great postgame. ORAS gave us more megas and was a remake of an entirely different game than XY. This time, we got none of that. We get the same fucking region plus a couple new areas, a rehashed story with minor improvements, 5 poorly designed new pokemon that are all just legendaries, no new alolan forms in the one opportunity they had to make SM extra marketable and fresh, a shittier battle factory relegated to shit plaza, all in the gen that had the smallest dex to date. The only interesting things are UB Sticky and RR - and I sure as hell am not buying a full game just for that.
Tl;dr We simply got the game we should have gotten a year ago, which turns out was never gonna be a good game in the first place.
