Giovanni kidnaps Lusamine and tries to brainwash her into joining RR, but the player defeats all the older bosses and then Giovanni, and he's like "Okay you're strong I won't even try" and disbands RR. So literally the same bullshit as in RGBY. Fucking whining baby shouldn't even be a leader.

Only exception is Ghetsis who throws a bitchfit and admits he wanted to fuck Giovanni over, but then Colress comes along and warps him back to his own dimension so nothing actually comes of it.

Ghetsis is truly the best villain produce by Pokemon. Believable motivations, introduced in a generation with so much character development, and a plot that doesn't use much flashy shit like ultimate weapons and flooding/drying the world, but instead, uses pure scheming and manipulation to obtain power.

Lusamine is still crazy but her objetives are different, having to do with Necrozma instead (and as far as I can tell the Nihilego fusion doesn't happen), and she isn't left as fucked in the aftermath.

They have their ORAS personalities but they also kept their RSE motivations (for both the sake of pokémon and humans instead of just focusing on one). It was a nice throwback, more so since the website makes it look like they have their ORAS motivations instead.

Charon re-discovered Rotom and was going to take all the credit for is as if he just found it now. What he found was the old notebook, which is where Rotom was named. Seems this is a Western mistake tho, since nips have had Cyrus and Rotom fanart since forever.

so is the game basically the same as sun/moon. As in the trials? All they added was the team rocket story and a couple of new UBs and a new electric pokemon? Did they at least change the trials to harder pokemon? Is the story pretty much the same as in completing the island trials?

Ghetsis is a megalomaniacal psychopath with a god complex. The idea of him becoming a multiversal god was the dream he never thought of until now. They're all chodes dressed up as actual villains to be cool and make themselves intimidating. That's why "Maxie" and "Archie" have their shitty original designs and why Lysandre found a Phoenix Down in his fucking hair. Giovanni mentioned sonething about how he plans to control Lusamine with the use of Nihelego toxin. How much would that affect the main story if it turned out that Lusamine's actions within it was due to someone controlling her with the toxin, and how would you feel if the Rainbow Rocket story had Giovanni sending a Nihilego fused Lusamine from another world (perhaps the SM one) after you?

I could see it happening like this: it would play out similar to the final product with you confronting Giovanni, him acknowleding you beating the other team leaders, and him explaining how he plans to take over the multiverse by controlling the UBs, Lusamine, and the Aether Foundation technology. However, he decides that he's not interested in battling you right now and opens an Ultra Wormhole to send another obstacle your way (though I wouldn't know how he plans to do that). Mother Beast Lusamine emerges from the wormhole and she'd be near animalistic in speech and behaviour, with any traces of anything resembling human thought being a desire to kill Lillie (and you). Not sure how her team would be, but I'd think there would either be a Nihilego in it or the legendary from the game counterpart to the one being played. Not sure what would happen after the battle either, but it would surely end up with her being sent back to where she came from and things proceeding as it does in the final product with Giovanni being impressed by your strength and offering you a place in Rainbow Rocket before his battle.
