I’d be ok with this, simply because it’d likely be a sequel taking place post-SM/USUM, which would set it AT LEAST 10 year’s after the originals. It’d be cool to see the region 10 years later.

Does Lusamine stay back at Aether Paradise? I've heard she has a postgame battle, and that she's a challenger for the League. Also, Lillie is apparently a scoutable trainer in the Battle Tree Doubles.

Yeah, Kanto would be a radically different region after such a huge time leap. Its the only acceptable reason why people should beg for its return, a greatly expanded Kanto could kick ass, with a Metropolis combining Celadon-Saffron-Vermillion, and expanding it into the northern reaches of PokeJapan.
