Brazilian here. It looks like it's portuguese. I believe it was based on "Zero hora", which translates into "Hour zero", another way to say "midnight" here.

They do that all the time. Blacephalon could've been Fire/Fairy and Stakataka couldve been Rock/Ghost, but they didn't go for that either. Game Freak doesn't care at all about giving new type combinations. It's not in their list of priorities when making a new Pokemon and it probably won't ever be.

Ninetales was a better candidate for Fire/Fairy. They got it right with its Alolan variant in the end, but forgot to retype the Kanto variant they retconned Azumarill etc.

Fire/Ghost is way more awesome and fitting for Blacephalon.

zeraora is kinda like a pikachu clone, like pachirisu, dedenne, emolga and togedemaru, they're all electric type and keep their japanese names
