The appeal of Pokemon is that it is up to the player to decide how easy or hard of a time they want.

Game Freak gives players the option to go for an easier run, but nothing is mandatory.

There's also an in-game trade for one in the Center by the first trial, so it can get boosted exp too.

I think it's almost immediately before the first trial.
I would say that the first island breaks the game with Hawlucha and Jynx, but then I remembered Jynx has a completely garbage movepool without TMs and only wants its HA, so you'd have to grind. However, that fast little bastard will carry hard, especially since Unburden will probably always be active.

From SciresM's twitter. Admittedly I'm speculating on the exact location of the Hawlucha trade, I'm just assuming they swapped the in-game trade that was there in SM.

If there's an easy or hard mode it should be stated explictly at the beginning so the player can choose one and use whatever tools the game gives them to their fullest extent while still maintaining the difficulty the player chose.
