Not much, really, it's just been proving strangely reliable. I was expecting it to be a full-on shitmon that I'd replace once the team was full, but Fury Cutter has been doing wonders, and it hasn't let me down yet. Closest call it had was Whitney's Clefairy getting a crit, otherwise it's been pretty decent.

Choosing pokemon you normally don't use/skipping pokemon you're prone to using. I get that feeling almost every time I do a nuzlocke but I try to vary up my team just to keep the flow strange and new. Doing that actually helped me find one of my absolute favorite pokemon ever. It also helps to post updates and chat with people about the events in the game.

The two main reasons for burn out is 1) things are too hard and you lose motivation or 2) things are too easy and you lose motivation

if the problem is 1, go nuzlocke something easier. give yourself some leeway if needed (like a rare candy being a revive or something like that). don't worry, we won't judge (just kidding we will) but its your game, as long as you're learning the ropes its okay to turn a blind eye here and there

if things are too easy, restrict yourself more. no "no dupes clause". no buying items. gym leader clauses, beating-a-gym-in-one-go clause, only six pokemon allowed clause, go wild. there's no such thing as an easy pokemon game if you use interesting challenges to keep it fresh. the main reason for nuzlocking is keeping the game challenging and interesting (might i even dare saying the forbidden word - fun). don't be afraid to bend some rules here and there to make it be like that for you.

Not sure how it performs in SS, I'm running through the vc version. But Fury Cutter is surprisingly useful for it if your opponent opens with another shitmon it can build up its power. Little guy has been a sweeper, which is weird to say about Paras. Though of course, it had the advantage of getting tons of training on those Drowzee on route 34 and on.

Caught a Petilil in MeleMele Meadow, but she got destroyed by the Roostfag's Butterfree. Also caught a Psyduck in Seaward Cave and she was doing fine until Hala's Machop decided to Revenge her to death. It only served to make Owliver pissed at whoever touched his harem, and he proceeded to sweep that fucker's team.

It couldn't have happened this perfectly if I'd planned it, but it seems Owliver just keeps adding to the harem. Route 4, the most recent encounter, was a female Lillipup.

Just finished the Grass trail. Lost a Mangemite and Gastly in it. Team is still a work in progress, but I have caught both possible Diglett Tunnel encounters already. Really want to drop Slowpoke and Ledian, but don't have the patience to level up 3 Pokemon right now, as I'm leveling Mudbray as replacement, brought back Ledian.

UNfortunately both Humps and Kaddy needed to jump in front of Bubbles to give the team a fighting chance and they didn't make it out of that fight. Their sacrifice allowed this journey to continue and they'll always be remembered for it.

Was thinking about starting a pretty standard nuzlocke of UM with the following rule:
The starter, being my first pokemon and thus being something special and all that shit, needs to stay in the team the entire run, no matter what. If it "dies" I'll still have to drag its corpse/incapacitated body through the rest of the run. So instead of just losing a good fighter, I would also be limiting myself to 5 mons at the same time.
What do you think?

A lot of these things in Nuzlocke are up to personal preference. For example, Pinwheels Forest is a massive area in Black and White, and it has two separate encounter lists. quick update back to back but it's good to illustrate the "death" rule. Captured another rattata, but went foolish against gary without fully healing and after a single sand attack tararagi~ missed every hyper fang so pidgeotto killed. you deserved it you fucker

so, backuprat went to the other world with him. life isn't fair. i could still level backuprat's body with the daycare/rare candies and use raticate, but its so not worth the effort and i might still catch a raticate down the line anyway. so cya backuprat and tararagi~, you will be missed (but not much)

Over halfway done with Gen 3 and only one Kanto game to go. I planned on doing a Contestlocke for Sapphire but it turns out contests were a mistake. Fuck contests, I'm glad they're gone. Wiped to Wattson and dropped the contest idea in favor of no healing at Pokecenters. Nearly wiped to Wally and Steven just like in Ruby. Hentai the Tentacruel was the lone survivor of both battles.

Next run is no evolution Leaf Green. I've been saving Bulba and most of the gift mons in preparation for this. It's time.

The Feint Attack-ing Magbys almost made mince meat of Lulu, sending Dankula into a frenzy. After the fight was over, he'd greown and put on weight, becoming a fat bat. Now we run like hell to the Pokemon Center for some well-deserved R&R before starting the climb of the volcano itself.

So in the space of cheren and roxie I lost yet another 2 pokemon.
Revolver got beat down in the tall grass by crit mega drain and stage 2 rollout.
Mike got guile'd by a magnemite in virbank complex.
So this run is getting off to a great start as you can see. At least duke has actually been fending itself well with disable and watergun and magby did fine in the roxie gym battle. Things have to start looking up eventually... right?

So Magnus got killed. Turns out buneary has a 102 base power stab before the third gym. This kills the babymon.
Burgh himself was a walkover. Beatrix OHKO'd swadloon and 2HKO'd leavanny while Duke OHKO'd dwebble with water pulse hax.
Picked up eviolite which sticks with golbat until he evolves.
Gonna let Gendry and Anthony catch up before moving on to the next area. Feels like i'm starting to stabilise a bit.

Finally beat my first Nuzlocke, this one on Leaf Green.
My team going into the Elite 4 originally had a Victrebell, but it died while grinding due to some Swagger shenanigans. RIP Wiz :(
I only lost my Fearow during the Elite 4 gauntlet during Bruno. His Machamp used Scary Face right before I knocked it out, and I assumed Fearow would still outspeed his Hitmonlee; I was wrong. :(
Still, keeping 5/6 alive ain't bad. Feels good to have finally won one. I managed to find myself an Adamant Magikarp, so my boy Horatio mostly swept Lance & Blue. Got dicey at parts tho.

Turns out I can do an update without a party member dying for once. Spent most of the time grinding and making new catches. Beatrix evolved at level 25 which is pretty quick. Flubbed a sandile catch but caught Trubbish and was lucky enough to snag heracross in lostlorn forest. If you couldn't guess, Gendry solo'd elesa's gym and will evolve next level when it learns earthquake. Now it's just a matter of catching up with everyone sub lvl 29 and progressing.

Is Farfetch'd actually legit? I've never used it. Pretty awesome team as well. Lots of stuff I rarely see people using in Gen 1, besides Jolteon, which is really the best Electric for Gen 1 other than Zapdos.

It's a pretty fun team, and honestly, Jolteon is the guy I've probably used least, but that's possibly going to change whilst I'm surfing through from Fuschia to Cinnabar. Farfetch'd is a shitmon, statwise, its saving grace here is that all ingame trainers have bad enough movesets that I can set up a swords dance and agility.

Poliwrath and Tangela are MVPs here.

Big update here: I beat Whitney, but I lost my Nidorina and Drowzee. Miltank did not take kindly to me trying to disable Stomp, and Nidorina eventually died to a crit. I went to Ecruteak and caught a male Koffing and female Vulpix, who I'll need names for. With a Shadow Ball TM coming, I'll have to be more careful with my Gastly in the future. Also, my Totodile is finally a shiny Croconaw.

Yeah, I'd actually forgotten that crits aren't affected by your stat buffs in Gen 1, but my thinking is, after one Swords Dance, Slash will be doing about the same damage with or without a Critical Hit.

Yeah, I've been looking at what will be most useful in the E4 run - Jolteon, Gengar and Poliwrath (with Ice Beam) are looking like my guys.

Don't give up, Brawly is infamous for being one of the hardest bosses in the game, so it's mostly uphill from here. Plus you have plenty of encounters before Wattson.

Man, I forgot about the Ilima battle in hau'oli. That Smeargle put all three of my pokémon in red and I only beat him by debuffing it with the combined efforts of Zorua + Furfrou and with Litten dealing the final blow with Ember. Kinda of a miracle I got out with no casualties

Random egg run of White is going well so far, I got some great hatches:

I'm going to pray I keep all three alive, especially now that I have the Eviolite. Really was scary to grind three level 1 pokemon, lots of running back and forth but once I got strong enough to take on Audino's things have been rolling smooth. However I accidently KO'd a Swoobat I could have used, which is unfortunath.

A-Raticate was a pushover and as a nice bonus I got a fucking Noibat out of the Verdant Cavern! I decided to put Zorua on standby because at this stage it's not really pulling it's weight, it doesn't hit much and it's pretty frail. Onwards to Route 3

The only survivors in Blue were Blastoise and Poliwrath. Most of my team died against Blue before the victory road, and another one died in the victory road.

Ivysaur and Wartortle died against THE Miltank.
And I caught a Pinsir but he died immediately after.
And Igglybuff is shiny.

I got Dishwasher evolved finally, and I'm presently making my way through the goldenrod underground. Just beat Silver again, and I'm still paranoid about when the mass dying is going to start, like it always does with runs like this one.

On the way to meet Kukui in the garden, we were approached by Fistoad, seeking powerful opponents to hone his technique with. Probably gonna wait till 37 to get Belly Drum before evolving it. Owliver also finally lost his Electric weakness, just in time.

then prolly colada. dragon grass stab will help your team a lot probably.

now as far as klefki v skarm idk. both have no offense. skarm will give you a ground immunity. klefki sets up screens for the rest of the team. pick one or the other i dont think itll matter too much

by the way your team is hella slow so if you do choose an eon, pick a faster one

note i dont remember the e4 teams either

Klefki is already up to lvl for the elite four and im feeling lazy with having to already train up new mons. just not sure if adding a fighting type will be worth it with the mons i have to pick from

I jsut go the Pokemon Team Builder website, select the pokemon and then do "Inspect Element" to replace the species name with what I want to show (nickname and level). Everything else is just basic MS Paint-fu

If I get 0 or repeating digits- I get to freely choose my starter.
1-3 means Turtwig, 4-6 is Chimchar, and 7-9 means Piplup.
