Yes. People claimed that the demo only had half of the new Pokemon and the full retail version would have the rest. People said the same about the ORAS demo, claiming the full game would have more megas. Even as far back as XY before the 3DS was even cracked, people convinced themselves that the Kalos Dex was incomplete, and the rest of it would be unlocked as a time based event on a certain date or as DLC.

Over and over again, the same thing for the past four years

More like we're in too deep with this franchise to ever quit or even skip a game. Pokemon has just become something that we automatically do, whether the games end up being dissapointing or not.
