Gen 7 is a simplified engine.
That's why I consider Gen 6 full body models the gold standard.

Left USUM, right XY. The reason of this change is because the USUM model is both used in overworld and as a 3D trainer sprite.

All they really have to do is have Gen 6 full bodies with a slightly more spacious overworld and they're good. Toon shading isn't bad if the hardware can handle it well but it wouldn't be a bad thing to go for a Battle Revolution type world in terms of lighting and shading either.

Switch gen games won't have to scale things with a tiny screen in mind, so there wouldn't be any reason for larger heads other than "GF does what it wants".

Why do peopld bring this up all the time ? Trainer models are ALWAYS visible in gen 7, while in gen 6 it was only for a short time in front of a 2d background, they could get away with it. Don't you think the games are laggy enough as they are ?
