Leaks, CFW and .cia files

!2pHs5IHMnI No.34089424 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
A bunch of you have the leaks for Ultra Moon and want to play them, but you're faced with the following problem.
>can't install cia files on 3ds
>too much of a poorfag to get a powerful enough PC to emulate

I can't fix the second problem for you. However, the first one might be something I can help with.

> What is a CIA file?
.cia is the file extension for 3DS package installers. These files are installed by the system and become titles that show on your home screen.

> How do I install a CIA on my 3DS?
You need to have a 3DS with custom firmware and a cia installer in order to install the game.
If you're retarded and don't have a cia installer, get FBI. It's the most reliable, supported and updated installer available. https://github.com/Steveice10/FBI/releases

> What is custom firmware?
Custom firmware (or CFW for short) is a term used to describe a set of patches applied to the 3DS' firmware in order to allow you to perform actions that you normally wouldn't be able to do, such as removing the region lock, installing titles and patching games.
The most noob-friendly and supported CFW for 3DS is Luma3DS by AuroraWright. You can find the release here. https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases

> What is boot9strap?
Boot9strap is an implementation of sighax written by SciresM. In its simplest form, it's a patch applied to the bootrom of your 3DS that allows you to easily run CFW.
Since this exploit is applied to the bootrom, sighax is NOT fixable by Nintendo without a hardware replacement, making it reliable no matter what firmware version you're on.
