The story is worse because of how sloppily they added in the new URS/Necrozma stuff and Lusamine's character is awkwardly handled. Also, Looker post-game had better dialogue than cringy Giovanni.

Generic trainer battle music is also worse. Everything else is objectively an improvement.

The plot is, with the new stuff being very sloppily implemented, but otherwise no. It's just rampant shitposting. It's not world-shakingly different like some were expecting, or like Game Freak tried to hype up in interviews, though.

It is since Sun/Moon was original. USUM isn't. If I'm paying $40 for the game again it should have differences that are worth paying for. I'm not giving credit to a lazy rehash for being a lazy rehash.

It's not a worse game by definition but it represents the worst in Game Freak shipping out something with almost no meaningful changes which could just be simple DLC for a full 40$ price tag

Two small new caves
One (or more) of the teleport tunnels is an actual small tunnel now

Quality of life improvements like Platinum and parallels between the two are abundant
I'm having fun with the Battle factory thing so it gets a "it's not terrible and I'll probably buy it to support the devs/10"

They're better, but by not NEARLY as much as they should have been, leaving nearly every SM flaw not fixed including blatantly unfinished content.

It's technically better as a game for a few reasons, but paying $40 for it is pure insanity. What's a lot worse than SM relative to its release date is the value/$ relationship. SM was a new gen at least, it was all new, while USUM is SM with a small DLC packed at the end and very small changes otherwise. Also no cutscene skip button, so you'll be watching all that garbage except this time it's not new so it's going to be 10 times as annoying, and that's saying a lot.
