I agree. The main game is short and forgettable, and the postgame feels depressingly barren. Even though SM didn't have a huge post-game, the region still felt like it was alive after the game was over. In ORAS, it just feels like the world stops once the credits roll. Not to mention, it completely loses the aesthetic of the first game. The washed out, desaturated palette from RSE is replaced with the complete opposite, and as a result the region looks and feels different.
The EXP share carried over from XY also makes the actual difficulty of the game pretty laughable. I've come to appreciate it as a tool for training Pokemon and whatnot, but it should be unlockable post-game or something. You can argue that it's a kid's game, but when I was a kid I got through the games fine without it, and so did everyone else I knew. It was a bit harder, and I lost a few battles, but jesus christ, how is that a bad thing??
Just for some context, I played BW2 for the first time before playing ORAS, and my experience was better in every way. It took me about a week to finish White 2 playing pretty consistently, and about 2 days for AS. I'm not gonna say it's necessarily the worst game in the series, but it's easily the most forgettable. HGSS completely shit on these as remakes that capture the aesthetic and magic of the originals, and even SM have some nuances to them that make them more memorable and enjoyable than anything in Gen VI, really (besides the spectacular Kalos Dex).
