gamefreak is going to be trash no matter what, and holding the series potential back with the geriatric piece of shit 3DS hardware isn't going to improve it
honestly I hope they're lazy, because if they just port as much of the existing framework over as they can, graduating up to a shitty tablet chip from a toaster oven microcontroller would make for a much livelier world as developers are allowed to spam more objects and animations
