We've already seen that the climax of the main story had been changed too much to have that final confrontation. If you had to put it in while keeping this in mind and not change USUM's climax, how would you implement it?

Giovanni already injects Lusamine with Nihilego's poison, making her go into Motherbeast mode wouldn't be hard. They probably didn't go with that because they wanted her not to be irredeemable and/or paralyzed for life in this version.

Why didn’t they just make it so that Jellyfish Lusamine was from an SM Vanilla timeline, had become a full-on Ultra Beast by fusing with Nihilego, and was now leading the invasion into the USUM world alongside Necrozma? That way they could have both Lusamines and still redeem at least one of them. It just kinda feels hamfisted in that Giovanni is supposed to be our new main antagonist or whatever.

Relax, man. Giovanni only shows up for the post game episode (even so, he mentions planning to control Lusamine with Nihilego toxin, which would be a good time to open an Ultra Wormhole and sic a Jellyfish Lusamine on you).
