This is an extremely outdaded process now that DLC is possible. It's probably why they made BW2 sequels instead of normal third versions, but that was back when GF was hardworking.

One of the biggest issues were the various cutscenes, and not that they desperately need them, they didn't implement them. So if you want to play the game you have to go through dozens of unskippable cutscenes you have already seen.
>Battle Facilities
Every third version has added great ones. The last two (Emerald and Platinum) added a Battle Frontier. USUM added a desk, and the facility is extremely flawed and requires the use of the festival plaza, which is hated by almost everyone who played SM.
>No National Pokedex
There is no reason for this one. They were just lazy.
>Gamefreak outright baited everyone
There was literally no reason for them to add a bunch of clouds on the bottom left of the map in that one trailer. The clearly only did it to make people believe there was something there.

Fuck off. Game Freak has been doing this shit since 1998 with Yellow. Just wait a year and buy the more complete version, just like I did with Platinum and Sun.
The only time they didn't do it was with XY, but those games were so incomplete and obviously rushed it made sense to not release a 3rd version. Plus, B2W2 sold pretty poorly despite having much more content than BW, so they obviously won't do sequels again.
The only fair criticism about these two new games is that they could have been easily DLC for Sun and Moon, but then you would have whined anyway because DLC is le evil.

It's nearly entirely the opposite, you idiot. Most people blindly defending it and hyping it up and complaining about people complaining haven't played it yet, or even watched the stream that was going on.

Maybe it'll get through your thick head when you actually play it. It's the same damn unfinished game, they didn't even try to fix the things wrong with SM's Alola. When more people play it the criticisms will only increase, not decrease, save for the poor fools who will try to justify to themselves that their $40 was well spent, you always get those for a good 2 weeks after launch, then denial passes and anger sets in like everyone else.

Actually, GameFreak wanted to make Pokémon “Gray” and split it into two versions, exactly like USUM. But Satoru Iwata told them he would never approve such a project and that they needed more new content.

Makes me miss the man even more. USUM is the kind of lazy rehash games that GF has wanted to make for years, but Iwata refused.

Iwata had a close relationship with Game Freak since the beginning, he was heavily involved in the GBC games compared to your average executive.
It seems the new CEO doesn't hold nearly as much sway over GF's creative direction, so the only hope we have is if they get punished by low sales, which will happen in USUM but most likely not where it matters (the Switch) no matter how bad they fuck up. The Switch is an insane thing right now and it'll elevate any game you put on it to high sales.

You’re absolutely right. I liked and respected Iwata for several reasons - he was a great president for Nintendo. But, the most vital contribution to any specific series he made was keeping GameFreak in line and demanding them to give players more content in Pokémon games than they originally planned. I highly doubt he would’ve approved USUM. Ever since Gen 2 he made great contributions to the series. When GF was having issue adding in Kanto content, they gave up and decided they would release the unfinished game with just Johto. But then Iwata disapproved and came along and did the programming for them in order to squeeze in the Kanto content and such.

Do you know what composition in art is? Objects are placed in otherwise open space to keep the eye from leaving the frame. The cloud was clearly there to fill in that empty space, the artist probably realized that they could improve the piece by adding it. Anons like you saw it and deluded yourselves into thinking there was more to it than there actually was because of patterns.

It's not big enough to be anything but a $10 DLC pack added at the end of the game. Forcing you to play through the least replayable region in the entire series to get to that content is what seals the deal though, people will hate it.

Unova doesn't feature even a third of the retarded roadblocks in Alola, and it doesn't teleport you between interiors because they couldn't make a dungeon, and it definitely doesn't leave the region unfinished on its fucking followup which is even worse.

Battle Agency is new content that is a very badly executed version of an older thing, it's really bad like everything related to the cancer that is Festival Plaza (which guess what, USUM also did jack shit to fix)
The unfinished areas and lack of dungeons absolutely are huge flaws, doubly so on an "enhanced versions" which exist to be definitive/finished versions of that region. USUM didn't expand Alola whatsoever.

Hell no, it took me days to hit lv.100 in SM, I ended up training every pseudo in the dex, all starters and a ton of other Pokemon through EXP share as I did the E4 over and over trying to get a single Silvally to lv.100 for hyper training.
There are NO good spots to grind efficiently in SM.

The game doesn't feel any different until the 4th island where the Necrozma plot comes out of nowhere and is over in a few minutes, not to mention they removed the Lusamine boss which was better than fighting Necrozma one in legend form and again in Ultra form.
