>>34115534I actually never liked BW, played them both and way too many things popped up that just made me roll my eyes. They're all subjective of course, but it's my opinion after all:
The music was shit, nostalgia or not, I prefer the soundtrack of the first 4 gens way more. From the childish rival theme to whatever the fuck plays inside Twist Mountain.
It might not be the first gen with friendly rivals but boy did I hate Cheren and Bianca. They should have just kept N as the main rival.
The region is way too damn linear and has the same flow every time. Yes Kanto and other regions are linear too but I feel like it wasn't nearly as bad there.
The dex isn't too bad but it relied too much on Gen 1. I legit just thought to myself "so who's the Geodude/Machop replacement?" when looking for new Pokémon. Lots are downright fugly but I'll leave that for the bait threads.
The story was either too deep or too vague at points. Then it culminated in a ridiculous cutscene of a castle emerging from nowhere. If Pokémon ever jumped the shark it had to be that moment.
BW2 fixed a lot more and actually made me enjoy Unova like I never thought I would. Pokémon distribution was better, it was more challenging and it brought some welcomed changes that are still used today. GF just needs to drop the tropes they've come to rely and just give us a game that can be enjoyed by both new and old fans. No half assed >b-but kids have ADHD and smartphones!
HGSS is proof that they can make great games if they actually put effort into it.
