I really miss the seals. It was such a nice tidbit of personalization.
I liked that small screen from FRLG which appeared on areas when you entered then. I imagine they could use some sort of 'panning' movement for the first time you get into the area to get the same effect.
Oh, and the sizing from oRaS. That was cool.

Gen 5 wild double battles didn’t have a partner AI with you. It was two of your Pokémon vs two wild ones. Plus it made 5% wild encounters 10% so it was pretty fucking nice.

Difficulty settings, but with the way Game Freak is bringing back features, for the most part they seem to make it worse (Roto-Powers, Festival Plaza, Battle Agency, etc) so they'd find a way to make it even more obnoxious to unlock
