When do you think the games started deteriorating in quality?
For me, the 3DS era was the worst, and hearing "don't expect much" is worrying.

Not so much deteriorating in quality, moreso a change in priority from giving deeper gameplay while pushing the story experience, to just focusing on the story experience and pushing the hardware.

At least with USUM, it seems like they slightly understand with new facilites. But it's too little too late. They need to stop cranking these games out so quickly. Oh, and Gen 6 is when this happens.

ORAS. People bitch about XY but I thought it was great for the first game to bring mainline into 3D, and the PSS was the single best new feature we've had in years. Meanwhile ORAS was the first remake that was outright worse than one of its predecessors and they couldn't even bother putting in features from XY like customization.

I kinda want to say ORAS, X an Y kida get a free pass on my book because it was the first 3d non spin off pokemon game but i feel like they have been rushing releases since oras to have a new game every one or 2 years and that's why they don't have time to put all the stuff that the non casual audience wants

i just buy them to transfer my old pokemon to the newest place

As early as BW. I like that game for the story and characters, but it's when the series started to steer toward increasingly linear and limited gameplay, exploration, etc.
