These two games are the only mainline games i never played.

Should i or is /vp/ only exaggerating on how great they are?

Unironically the best games, at least in my opinion. Gen 5 was groundbreaking.

Either way, I'd say you should play it, and make your own opinion. No one here has one without bias when this generation is so polarizing.

The fact they have a challenge mode honestly put them in top 3 for me. The grunts keep up suprisingly well if your playing casually and the story is pretty great.

I'm not keen on the Rival however but its a minor complaint. Dex variety is great too

It's fine. Rosa a sexual, barely any changes besides starting in a new town. New rival/companion a shit, both of them. Nate barely appears thank christ.

You didn't miss out on much, but it's not necessarily bad.

+less linear than B/W
-The rival is garbage
+Challange mode
-Challenge mode is basically exclusive to one game unless your friend has the one that has it.
+More endgame legendaries
-Tornadus, Thunderus, and Landorus, are only obtainable through Dream Radar
+extra lore
-extra lore locked if you don't have black/white
+Zorua no longer event only
- Game still tries to pretend it's saying something deep, when in reality it's just basic bitch wisdom and edge.

BW2 are pretty good, I’d emulate it and find a code that enables challenge mode if I ever played it again though.

Also the level curve around the 3rd and 4th gyms is really shit and forces a lot of grinding if you have 5 or 6 mons.

To most gamers....nintendo did try to make everything in these games feel less gameboy advance shits. If you have played a few pokemon titles on nds before them you would have known how everything feel like a slighty better polished gba pokemon but not with Black/White and Black/White 2; everything pretty much changed especially the background and building and of course the 3d stuff they added to almost every area in the games. All this what made the games stand out for their generation.

They're good and enjoyable, but as usual /vp/ needs to blow up everything out of proportion.
If you liked BW you'll like these, if you disliked it instead you'll find it boring since it's pretty much BW with a coat of paint.

B2W2 are great, but the only things in them that would put them at a level well above other games are Challenge Mode and the PWT. Challenge Mode is very contrived to unlock and best taken advantage of using an emulator or if you plan in advance with a friend or a game store. The PWT may be the single best postgame feature in a Pokémon game apart from Kanto in GSCHGSS but you have to put up with Gen V's tedious training and breeding mechanics to take full advantage of it unless you hack.

Overall, if you aren't really drawn in by either of those two features, you can get an equal or greater experience by playing one or more of the other "third games" or remakes. HGSS are more well-rounded and therefore more loved overall.

Not that anon, but you don't need to edit shit if you use cheats. Most stuff he talked aboit are those no longer available to you in the game because they were online only shits i.e trading pokemon forms etc.

In-game campaign was pretty weak (to me). I really had to force myself through it from mid-endgame.

Post game is where it shines. The game has enormous amounts of content and just overall effort put in to make the game it’s own experience. Highly recommend you give it a shot.

And be careful, OP. If you were to download the roms, make sure they aren't the so called hacked blaze or white 2. The hacks are so stupid they can't even change the title screen. The most pathetic fan made hacks ever. So don't bother.

It does. The lack of Nintendo WFC, and their reliance on such, has hurt B2W2 severely; if they migrated to Nintendo Network, they'd be far less contested as the best games in the series. But every time you bring it up with Unovahipsters, they either brush it aside or come up with bullshit like "GF planned ahead and made every feature playable even without WFC".

BW2 is a great nuzlocke game, besides having few encounters for the first two gyms, as BW2 doesn't start off well at all. You can get some really good stuff and plenty of Unova mons are still available. It's also pretty tough towards the end.
