Set, because I try to keep my in game battles as close to link battles as I can, mechanics wise, because that's the most fun for me.

Switch tells you what Pokemon the opponent is going to use next.
Set doesn't inform you anything and it keeps your Pokemon out, meaning you will have to manually switch and your incoming Pokemon may take damage. It's the closest thing to a "difficulty" option with the exception of B2W2.

Honestly, switch is no fun if you ask me. Getting a fairly huge advantage in an already easy enough game is pretty boring. At least give me some risk when I switch around. Playing BW2, a lot of the trainers in around Victory road and beyond have semi-competent pokémon, and you actually have to think whether or not you should switch, since your switch-in might not handle one or two hits. Now if only they had bigger teams, and you'd get some actual challenge.

I'm pretty much on the same page. I like having to actually make plays and sacrifice Pokémon sometimes. I also try not to use items in battle, but only in the field, because those give you a huge advantage over the AI, too. I just try to get a relatively level playing field for trainer battles going if I can.

shift and set are pretty much the difficulty settings people always ask for.
playing on shift is judgeable in the same way playing FE on casual mode is.

i used to do set, but the constant need to go to pokecenters due to meme moves and long ass routes made me go to switch. Why can't we always have a healing waifu travel with us?

I always play Shift, just to rub the AI's stupidity in its face, and I always plan for a full slate with the same six leading types (and up to six more supporting types which vary between generations) to show the AI that I have something for whatever it has up its sleeve.

You're crazy if you expect me to remember/care about this setting enough to actually go to set. I go with default because the game is going to be piss easy either way. Actually, it's misleading to say I even go with it since I just jump right into the game without thinking about something so irrelevant.

How dumb do you have to be to think that being able to freely counter every single pokémon of the opponent (after the first anyways) is irrelevant? Maybe it's piss easy because you get everything handed to you on a plate instead of having to think a second on how and when you switch? I mean, you're playing baby mode of the baby mode, it just makes you sound like you're afraid of losing.

I was actually just thinking that there could be an additional option to not allow using items in battles (well, except balls).
at least you can force that rule yourself, I enjoy battles way more without items.
competent teams.. yeah it's kinda bleh to see trainers having unevolved pokes and shiat.

Shift, it's not like the game is significantly harder with Set anyway, enemies are always using <6 unevolved pokemon with shitty sets

I'd rather rush to the post game and multiplayer content than sit through longer easy battles.

Set is too hard. I can never beat the elite four without knowing what pokemon is coming up next and being able to get a free switch. These are kids games, they shouldn't be hard.
