The way I see it, if you don’t need to do it to progress (or if the game really, really wants you to do it like with Reshiram/Zekrom in BW) then it doesn’t happen. But multiverse shit doesn’t care anymore so yeah sure whatever.

i agree multiverse was not canon until the gens after and they probably didnt think of it being canon until then and also its optional and not at all necessary so i think its pretty safe to assume that its canon
