Why did they decide to make some of the Ultra Beasts resemble some of the characters again?

Because it doesn't look like they ever plan on addressing that one. And it's just gonna stick out moving forward.

Isn't the explanation that Lusamine is so autistic about UB's that she dresses Lillie up to look like one? And that's why she looks like Pheromosa too? It doesn't explain why Guzma looks like Xurkitree, though.

A design is never pointless so the connection, at least the idea was there in the first place. But they probably couldn't make it not weird or something that wouldnt fit with a kids game.

well guzma does work for her so she might have had a hand in how guzma dresses or she took a liking to guzma because he looks like xurkitree.

Yes, that was heavily implied in SM, but in USUM she doesn't seem to care as much about Nihilego. Although I guess she just gets sidetracked by the prospect of a Necrozma attack.

No one in the Pokemon world ever saw Pheromosa prior to the events of the games.

He doesn't really. It was a fair prediction to make when all we had were the Pokedex still images from the demo leak, but after seeing Xurkitree up close and in motion I don't know why anyone still thinks this.
