>>34158948Kenny, or Kengo in the Japanese version. One of Dawn's contest rivals in DP. He was Dawn's neighbor in Twinleaf Town who picked Piplup as a starter and became a coordinator because he has a crush on Dawn.
Kenny lost to Zoey, who got her first ribbon by beating him. This was off-screen of course, and before Dawn met Zoey.
Dawn's Piplup defeated Kenny's Prinplup and won Dawn her first ribbon.
Kenny competed in a contest in Solaceon Town. He was the one who taught Ash's Turtwig Energy Ball (via Breloom), and informed Dawn of Aipom's evolution, Ambipom. Kenny's Prinplup lost to Jessie's Dustox in the final round.
Kenny then appeared with Barry so that all three Piplup stages can appear in Piplup's refuse to evolve episode. In the next episode, Kenny's Prinplup beat Dawn's Ambipom in the latter's last contest and won a ribbon.
Then Kenny competed in the Grand Festival, where he was eliminated in the first round (double appeal) because his Empoleon used too much power and forced Floatzel back.
Kenny then appeared in the episode after Ash beat Volkner, training under Jasmine. Kenny, who was jealous of Ash for being with Dawn, challenged Ash to a battle to determine whether Dawn goes with Ash or Kenny. Kenny's Empoleon beat Ash's Buizel, but Dawn refused to go with him since she wanted to see Ash compete in the Sinnoh League, and then to walk her own path. But she still wants to see Kenny again though.
