I would be amazed if they didn't. They would look unprecedentedly shitty at the Switches resolution with modern shaders. I know they wanted these models to last but they probably didn't think they were going to be forced to adhere to console standards so soon ether.

Better yes. But not even close to something you would see in a console release. These models should not rely so much on implied geometry conveyed through textures alone.

Like gamefreak gives a fuck about that, all 3ds pokemon games ran like shit even tho the other companies managed to make their games run smoothly even with the 3ds limitations.

They won't make better models. They already have them.
The models used in the current games have been scaled down (less polygons and lower res textures) to work on 3ds hardware.
It would be retarded for GF to make 3d models for over 800 pokes and not future proof them.

Started out that way, true. Changed enough during development that the devs decided to make it it's own story though (and regardless of what you feel, developer's intent trumps headcanon). And while we're on the subject, if I keep seeing the 'tards of the board keep shilling the remake meme, I'mma keep shilling this idea, because it's about as good as "lol remaek gen wun as 1st switch gaem, lol" - which is to say, not very.

I only agree to the second part because there actually IS a significant power gap between a Tegra X1 and the 3DS.

The first part is meaningless fluff because Pokemon doesn't work the same way Zelda or Skyrim do and the third part is detrimental because the series is better off expanding than regressing.

Just having patterns on the body, mouths and eyes as textures will look awful int a game not restrained to a tiny screen like the 3DS games and Go. They need to at the very least make those features part of the model itself.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they made a final Sun and Moon game for the switch. They'd just have to make the overworld camera fully rotatable and a few other minor changes and additions. It would definitely help them meet the yearly release schedule.
