Why the actual fuck do Gamefreak go out of their way to establish lore, only to then immediately ignore it in the next game?!
The fact that the Ultra Beasts had Beast Boost ONLY because they soaked up the wormhole energy on their exit is a huge fucking plot point in the Looker missions in SM. Its the same thing that happens to the fallers.
Ultra Beasts from their native dimension should have had different abilities.
Like, if they didn't want to give them different abilities they could've just said some bullshit like "Oh, it seems Pokemon from other dimensions have the remarkable ability to boost their own power in battle"
But no.
They went OUT OF THEIR WAY to establish a VERY specific bit of lore with wormhole energy, JUST to ignore it in the very next games.
