Does anyone have any experience with Monotype?

I'll be competing in a monotype tournament amongst my friends (representing Ghost type) in order to determine an Elite 4 from the 16 of us.

I'd love some advice in building in a monotype environment beyond what Smogon can offer, if any of you have such insight. I'm specifically worried about fighting the Dark-type rep.

Dazzling Gleam on Gengar and Sacred Sword on Aegislash c(if Aegislash is permitted...)

Alolan Marowak has a pretty efficient stab and movepool, as a ghost user your main annoyance will be Zoroark ans Speed Boost Sharpedo running Crunch, everything else should be manageable without worrying too much.

If you're worried about speed, you can run a bold Cofagrigus with Trick Room, Toxic, Will o Wisp and Hex, it stops pretty much anything physical relying on their ability and it can force somes switches allowing you a free WoW or Toxic.

I've run a monotype Normal team for a couple years now.

I switch a couple pokemon on the team occasionally but its a pretty good 50/50 competitive team. it either plays awful or dominates

its really nice running a monotype team

Gengar and A-Marowak are a must. I'm thinking Jellicent and M-Sableye for some thiccness, and then Aegislash and Mimikyu for some hard hitters that won't go down too easily once I've cleaned up the major threats.

Mega Gengar makes me nervous.

I've no experience with him, I get that Shadow Tag is fucked up, but he's just so frail. I think I'd rather have the extra bulk with M-Sableye for when I face the dreaded Dark team.

mimikyu and mega sableye are S tier on ghost monotype, you simply MUST have them
you could piece together a good team with mimikyu, specs gengar, mega sableye, special wall jellicent with status abuse, marowak for key immunities, and either aegislash in place of eviolite doublade or gourgeist to abuse leech seed. beyond that, youre not going to get very far unless you try to fit in trick room cofagrigus as a meme.
