I've recently been working on a living dex, just finished organizing last night actually, and its kinda neat how many pokemon I got from trades as well as pokemon I used back in the day in Emerald, Plat, and Black/2 who are now part of this collection.
Stuff like "oh I used this Krickitune in my pearl run" or "I traded starters with my college gf in X/Y while she soft reseted so we could get all of them" was a really nice feeling. Sure its pure nostalgia but when you'he been playing these games you're shop life its bound to happen.
This also reminds me of Tajiri's original inspiration for pokemon: seeing kids with a game boy link playing together and imagining them trading bugs they collected with it.
