I personally enjoyed SM and XY.
But you can't deny that the SM honeymoon phase died out way faster than XY. I don't recall anyone hating XY until after like a year it was released while people as early as week 2 were already saying that SM was god awful.
Me? Didn't really care too much. I was just more bummed out that Kahili and Mina were just shoehorned in the game.
