This, play any fucking JRPG, Gen 7 barely scratches the surface in terms of cutscenes. I'd love to force everyone on this board to play MGS4 so I could watch 90% of you writhe and die painful deaths.

I've had a big enough attention span for all the storylines prior to gen 7.
For some reason the cutscenes in SM and USUM are just tedious, monotonous and intolerable. I can't put my finger on what it may be. I suspect:
-The cutscenes are too long

-The cutscenes are too numerous thus giving a feeling of hand-holding and interrupting gameplay time.

-The story is too boring

Sun and Moon are the first pokemon games in which I have encountered a cumbersome story.

No, BW exists. You can't even get out of your FUCKING ROOM without being talked to and bombarded by cutscenes. You have two blah blah two fights then blah blah blah for 15 minutes before being able to do anything.

It was BW. Gen 7 cutscenes are so long.

They're the same. At least the character emoting give me a reason for it to last longer. There's no reason why BW takes that much time when the only thing the characters can do is turning steps.

I didn't mind all of the cutscenes my first time through, and I was enjoying how cute and happy everything was. I can definitely see how it would really drag on subsequent playthroughs, though.

Yeah, I played through Moon once and was really satisfied with the game overall. But I picked the game up hoping for a mellow, chilled-out experience, so getting thrown into the cutscene zone all the time didn't really ruin my time.

If I had to play through it again I can see myself getting rather annoyed by Hau and friends, much as I did when I replayed X.

The difference between the dialogue-heaviness of gens 5 and 7 are in the former, the text is fast throughout the game, and the mid-dialogue animations take less than a second to transition between. Everyone in Alola walks as slowly as the pokémon and has to cycle between several animations before saying more than their fair share.

King's Field was basically Ultima Underworld made by Japan, Demon's Souls spawned from that, but Dragon Quest spawned from Ultima as well, so it ALL traces back to western RPGs.
The Japs got retarded from radiation though so the genre devolved to garbage cutscenes and now idiots think an interactive movie is at the core of JRPGs because they weren't born to play any RPG made before Final Fantasy 7.

It's infuriating. Also speaking of Dragon Quest go play DQ8 on 3DS and laugh at how incompetent Game Freak is, at everything.
