I'm playing UM on my bewitched 3DS XL and I just finished the first challenge and the i've beat the totem raticate, but I didn't have any framerate drops for some reason and I remember that in S&M it was damn horrible.

So my question is, is the game more optimized now ?

No, the game still turns into a 15FPS slideshow and hangs for a few seconds trying not to shit itself after selecting moves in double battles.

What the fuck was the point of the n3DS if so few devs used it correctly? Is it because they were afraid of alienating old 3DS owners or did they just not give a fuck?

Did you seriously think they were going to go out of their way to make the games more advanced than the standard issue hardware could handle just because there was a slightly newer model available? Way more people owned the regular 3DS, it was a no brainer. If the N3DS somehow managed to eclipse the regular 3DS, THEN they would have started making use of that hardware. But that was never going to happen and they knew it. It was a marketing ploy, plain and simple.

It's not like they had to make it n3DS only which everybody knew they would never do, but an improved framerate wouldn't be that much to expect considering the higher performances of games like MH4U. Don't even get me started on the lack of games that use the right control nub and ZL/ZR buttons either, those would have been pretty simple to implement as optional item shortcuts.
