I mean, I like Wartortle, but it bothers me that all the features it gained are completely lost and replaced with different ones when it becomes Blastoise. Tbh, Wartortle's design makes less sense the more I look at it. It's a floofy Squirtle.

I love Wartortle, but not at all. A good middle evolution needs to have traits of both first and final stages. It works especially well if it has the cuteness of the first stage and the coolness of the second stage. Krokorok is a perfect example of this. It has the same color and head as Sandile, but stands up like Krookodile. Luxio is another example, having hair features similar to both Shinx and Luxray, having Shinx's mostly blue body and Luxray's angry expression. Wartortle doesn't have cannons coming out of it's back and Blastoise doesn't have the ears or tail of Wartortle. Wartortle looks the most out of place if anything, but I still love Wartortle.
